ASICS GEL 2000 -DGBR

One of the all-time greats from ASICS, the GT 2000 and its predecessors (remember the 21X0 series?) have been providing reliable pronation control to runners all over the world for years, and the upcoming ASICS GT 2000 6 aims to continue that legacy with even less weight. Designers completely restructured the midsole, outsole, and upper, which, in addition to cutting weight, should give the GT 2000 a smoother ride that doesn’t sacrifice the pronation control that loyal users expect.

Their primary means of shedding weight is the transition from a FluidRide midsole to a new full-length FlyteFoam midsole. As you might guess, FlyteFoam is much lighter than FluidRide, but it is also more resilient and should provide adaptive cushioning that increases the longevity of the shoe. Layered on top of the FlyteFoam is a layer of SpEVA, which should generate slightly more underfoot spring. The Duomax support system and Guidance Trusstic have also been restructured for a smoother transition, and there is a new Ortholite sockliner to improve comfort.

To go along with the remodeled underfoot, the upper of the GT 2000 6 is completely new and a lot smoother than its predecessor. Now entirely seamless, the wrap features fewer overlays and removes the external plastic that covered the heel of the previous model. The shoe also includes ventilation openings along the inside of the midfoot to improve breathability.

For their efforts, the design team has cut the weight of the men’s GT 2000 6 by 0.6 ounces compared to its predecessor and the women’s shoe has lost a full ounce.
